It takes most children about a year to learn how to talk in their own language, and many years after that before they are very good at communicating. Learning a musical instrument is much the same, it takes time. When first taking up the violin, or fiddle, be patient. Learn how to control all kinds of sounds, for that is the key. Take time with each hand, the fingering and the bowing, and focus on that hand. Divide your practice between each and then at the end play with both at the same time.
