When is the right time to start music lessons? My answer is now, but really the answer should also be anytime. My violin, and fiddle students have been as young as 2.5 and as old as grandparent. Anytime is a great time to start.
It is worth noting that studying music as a child does help with development. Those who start music lessons early, I would say by 2nd grade, will reap greater benifits later in life. Your brain on music as a participant, not merely listening to music, but participating in its creation, helps your brain stay healthy. Here is an article from NPR. As a teacher I have always been interested in helping my students obtain their own goals musically. Do you want to play in church, with friends who play folk music, or do you want to go into the profession? What do you want to accomplish?

Music is in my opinion intrinsically a part of being human, a part of being alive. I would say that most life uses sounds we humans hear as music in some way. I think though that only man creates music that can be recreated. In other words, writes it down.
At the Levant Music Studio I will teach anyone who shows up with a violin, anyone! So now is the time to start violin, fiddle, or viola lessons, now is the time to begin.
